Welcome to the private Sonork Network.

How to set up Sonork to run via my server

Download the latest Sonork messenger (1.8) or
the older version (1.7.0.5) and;
Sonork_Migrating_Servers Instructions

Nederlandse Vertaling werkt niet? Hier is een fix...

Please Note: the WinRAR archival program is constantly being improved so from time to time its protocols are being made more efficient, faster and less prone to crashes. It is therefore essential that you keep a reasonably recent version of it on your system. Anything older than WinRAR 3.2 is probably going to give you occasional errors. Try to keep up with the Jones's will ya? :)

Notice: As from 04-13-2007 we no longer have a static IP Address. If you find that sonork is no longer connecting, please follow the below instructions to fix that.

NEW HOST: geneviere.kicks-ass.org

Together with the help of one of the Polinco members to avoid the annoying exchange of the IP adress every time it changes I have implemented a virtual static address. Dyndns is a service that provides transparent permanency to dynamic IPs.

Unless you use the commercial Sonork service this is all you need to enter in the box as shown below. Replace the server.sonork.com entry with the host address above. After you have done this, there is no need to have to do this again.

These changes can only be made while Sonork is offline.

New Users...

Click on the robot's face Bicho or the small ratchet wheels ratchet wheels icon
in the main Sonork console and the following menu appears.

Menu

Pic 1. — Click on My Information (blue line)
and the My Information Window
with the seven tabs below appears.
.

myInfo

Pic 2 — With the My Information window open,
click on Configure Network. A new smaller
window opens called "Configure Network."

settings

Pic 3 — Since it is unlikely that you will be using Sonork's main server go ahead and replace server.sonork.com with geneviere.kicks-ass.org. Done! Goto Pic 4...

If you want to keep the Sonork server simply click on the Add button and in the small window that now appears type geneviere and click Accept.

In the text field below the word Sonork type in the new host name geneviere.kicks-ass.org and make sure that the radiobutton (a dot) appears next to "Direct", then click Accept. You now have two servers set up, the default (sonork) and geneviere. If you use geneviere the most, I really urge you to make it default instead. Add a new server called Sonork, enter the host, sonork.server.com, and you're done. Just be sure the host you want to connect to shows in the window.

You will now return to the My Information
window. (Pic 2 above again.) Click on
Select User Profile.

profile

Pic 4. — Never mind my profiles, in your case you should only see one.
Click on the Add button. Migrating Sonork users, you are going to make a new Profile because the one you see now (old Sonork account) does not work on Geneviere.

create

Pic 5 — This is pretty obvious, what?
On to the next image.

addprofile

Pic 6 — Pick an Alias of your choice
(preferably one we know already) and
use a name as well which makes it
easier for you to recover your profile if
something goes wrong in the future.

password

Pic 7 — Click next. Enter your password
twice and your email address. (Remember,
this is pretty well private so you don't have
to be afraid of idiots bugging you. Everyone
I know is pretty much ok.)

ready

Pic 8 — Click Next again and now the Sonork client tells you that you are almost ready.

To make sure you are configured for Geneviere now click on the Configure Network button again and make sure it says Geneviere at the top. If it says Default, then use the dropdown button next to the word default to change it to Geneviere. Then click accept and you are back at the ready window.
